Nuts Chocolate Coated Strawberries
Why Add Nuts?
Component
- Chocolate
- Chocolate is an essential ingredient for coating in Nuts Chocolate Coated Strawberries. To make it a bit healthier, I used dark chocolate, but milk chocolate works just as well-just use whatever you have on hand! The chocolate will be melted using a double boiler, so you'll need a heatproof bowl to melt it properly.
- Freeze-Dried Strawberries
- Strawberries add a delicious tangy flavor to Nuts Chocolate Coated Strawberries. You can substitute with other freeze-dried fruits, but keep in mind that fresh fruit can be tricky to coat with chocolate due to its moisture content. If you're using fresh fruit, make sure to pat it dry thoroughly before dipping it in chocolate.
- Nuts
- For the nuts, I used walnuts and almonds, but you can use whatever you have at home-cashews or peanuts would work great too! Just chop them finely and mix them with the melted chocolate for a perfect crunch.
Nuts Chocolate Coated Strawberries
Ingredients:
- 7 freeze-dried strawberries
- 90g chocolate (dark or milk)
- Nuts:
- 8 almonds
- 8 walnuts
Instructions:
Step 1: Chop the Nuts
Finely chop the walnuts and almonds. The smaller the pieces, the better they will stick to the chocolate and strawberries. Try to cut them as thin as possible for the best texture.
Step 2: Melt the Chocolate
Fill a bowl with hot water, then place another heatproof bowl on top to create a double boiler. Add the chocolate to the top bowl and let it melt gently. If you want to speed up the process, chop the chocolate into smaller pieces before melting.
Step 3: Mix in the Nuts
Once the chocolate is completely melted, stir in the chopped nuts. A 7:3 ratio of chocolate to nuts works best for a rich, chocolatey flavor, but if you prefer more crunch, you can adjust to a 6:4 ratio.
Step 4: Coat the Strawberries
Dip the freeze-dried strawberries into the chocolate-nut mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Place them on parchment paper or a plate, making sure they don't touch each other. Refrigerate for about 20 minutes until fully set.
Reviews:
- The sweetness of the chocolate combined with the tangy freshness of the strawberries creates an amazing balance. As you chew, the nutty crunch kicks in, making every bite even more satisfying!
These make a perfect homemade gift for Valentine's Day. Whether you're gifting them to friends or a loved one, the fact that they're handmade adds a special touch. Plus, they're as delicious as they are beautiful!
