High-Protein Breakfast Burrito

Today, I want to introduce a quick and easy high-protein breakfast burrito. This burrito takes less than 3 minutes to make, yet it's super filling-just one is enough to keep you full for hours.

It's packed with ham, eggs, and cheese, which provide plenty of protein and healthy fats, while the tortilla gives you a good dose of carbohydrates. This makes it a perfectly balanced meal to start your day. 

If you're someone who often skips breakfast due to a busy schedule but still wants a nutritious meal, this is the perfect quick and easy recipe for you!

Component

  • Tortilla 
    • A tortilla is essential since it wraps everything together. I recommend using one that's at least 8 inches in diameter. 

      Here's a little burrito-wrapping tip: Place the filling in the center, fold both sides inward, then lift the bottom flap over the filling, tucking it in as you roll it up. This technique will keep everything neatly wrapped and prevent the burrito from falling apart! 
  • Ham, Eggs & Cheese 
    • Eggs are a must-have, but ham and cheese are optional. However, I highly recommend adding them for extra flavor. 
      • Ham adds a savory, salty taste. 
      • Cheese gives it a creamy, melty texture. 
      • Both are high in protein, making this burrito an excellent high-protein meal.

Burrito Sauce

You don't need any sauce because the ingredients are flavorful on their own, but if you prefer one, I recommend ketchup. 

However, be mindful of sugar content-regular ketchup can cause a blood sugar spike, which might make you feel sluggish. Opt for a low-sugar or allulose-based ketchup instead. Alternatively, you can use any other low-sugar sauce of your choice.

Ingredients(2serving):

  • 2 (8-inch) tortillas
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 block of ham
  • 1 slice of cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

[1] Beat the eggs and cook them into scrambled eggs.

[2] Cut the ham into bite-sized pieces and stir-fry.

[3] Lay out a tortilla, place the cheese in the center, and add the cooked ham and eggs.

[4] Fold in the sides of the tortilla, roll it up tightly from the bottom.

[5] Toast on low heat until golden brown, and it's ready to serve!

Notes:

  • Be careful when cooking the ham and eggs-don't burn yourself! 
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. 
  • Cheese is optional, so add it only if you have it on hand. 
  • Any type of ham works-just cut it into bite-sized pieces. 
  • If you don't fold the tortilla properly, it might burst open while eating. Make sure to tuck in the sides before rolling! 
  • Don't overfill the tortilla-use a moderate amount of ingredients for a perfectly wrapped burrito.
