Sweet Red Bean Jelly Cheese Toast Recipe

Sweet Red Bean Jelly Cheese Toast

Do you know what the oldest traditional snack in Korea is? It's Sweet Red Bean Jelly!

I have fond memories of Sweet Red Bean Jelly from my childhood. Whenever I visited my grandfather, he would always hand me a piece of this sweet treat. Made from red beans and sugar, it's known for its irresistibly sweet flavor.

That got me thinking-what if I combined the sweetness of Sweet Red Bean Jelly with the savory saltiness of cheese? Better yet, what if I toasted it lightly in an air fryer to create a unique twist? The result: a delightful Sweet Red Bean Jelly toast shaped like a checkerboard!

Let's dive into the recipe and see how it's made.

Components

  • Sweet Red Bean Jelly
    • This is an essential ingredient for the recipe. You can usually find it at H Mart, making it fairly easy to get. If you can't find it, you can substitute it with Japanese yanggaeng or even use sweetened red beans to create a similar flavor for your toast.
  • Cheese
    • For the cheese, sliced cheese works best. If you're aiming for a more visually appealing dish, consider using white cheese instead of cheddar for a cleaner look. If white cheese isn't available, alternatives like mozzarella or string cheese are great substitutes.
  • White Bread
    • White sandwich bread is ideal for this recipe! If you don't have white bread, you can use baguette slices or any other type of bread you prefer. Toasting it until it's crispy will add a nice texture to your creation.

SPOON RANK : 🥄🥄🥄(3/5)

Ingredients:

  • Sweet Red Bean Jelly
  • Slice Cheese
  • White Bread

Instructions:

Step 1. Slice the Sweet Red Bean Jelly into uniform pieces lengthwise. The thinner you slice it, the better it will taste. Be sure to handle the knife carefully while cutting!

Step 2. Cut the cheese to match the size of the Sweet Red Bean Jelly pieces.

Step 3. On a slice of white bread, alternate placing the cheese and Sweet Red Bean Jelly pieces, creating a checkerboard pattern.

Step 4 Toast it in an air fryer at 360°F (180°C) for 2 minutes.

Review:

  • The combination of the sweet Sweet Red Bean Jelly and salty cheese worked wonderfully together. The checkerboard pattern added a layer of visual appeal, while the textures made it fun to eat.

When cooked in the air fryer, I was hoping the cheese would melt, but unfortunately, it didn't. Instead, the Sweet Red Bean Jelly softened slightly, which actually enhanced its sweetness and made the dish even more delicious.

If I were to make it again, I'd try adding mozzarella cheese and topping it with another slice of bread to create a stretchy, gooey texture. That sounds like it could take this recipe to the next level!
