Sugar Butter Almond

Sugar Butter Almond

Sugar Butter Almond Recipe

I happened to notice almonds were on sale, and the idea of making something with almonds popped into my mind. Then, right next to them, I spotted some honey butter almonds.

And that was it-I knew what I had to make! I rushed home, determined to recreate something similar to those honey butter almonds.

While honey would've been a great option, I'm not a big fan of the sticky texture it gives almonds. So, instead of honey, I decided to use the powdered sugar I already had at home. With that idea in mind, I got straight to work!

Benchmark

One of the must-buy souvenirs when traveling to Korea is none other than honey butter almonds.

Honey butter almonds are a unique snack made by coating almonds with a seasoning blend of butter and honey. The honey butter flavor is characterized by the creamy, nutty richness of butter combined with the natural sweetness of honey, creating a smooth and indulgent taste.

What makes this snack even more appealing is the addition of salted butter, which brings a delightful balance of sweetness and saltiness. Paired with the crunchy, nutty texture of the almonds, this snack has become a beloved treat for its rich and addictive flavor profile.

Component

  • Almonds
    • Almonds are an essential ingredient. They enhance the nutty flavor, making them a must-have for this recipe. If you don't have almonds on hand, you can substitute them with other nuts like peanuts, walnuts, or pecans. However, almonds pair best with this recipe, so they come highly recommended.
  • Butter
    • Butter adds a rich, savory flavor to the dish. Salted butter works better than unsalted, but if you only have unsalted butter, just sprinkle in a bit of salt to bring out the right balance of flavor.
  • Powdered Sugar
    • This is a key ingredient for adding sweetness to the almonds. While you can use other sweeteners like allulose syrup, regular sugar, or honey, these can leave a sticky residue, which some people might find unpleasant. To avoid this, powdered sugar is your best option for a cleaner, mess-free sweetness.

Here comes the story behind the recipe

Sugar Butter Almond

Preparation Time: 2minute
Cooking time:
SPOON RANK : 🥄🥄(2/5)

Ingredients:

  • A handful of almonds
  • 1 teaspoon of butter
  • A pinch of salt (about 3g)
  • 20g powdered sugar (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

Step 1 Melt the butter in the microwave until fully liquefied (about 20 seconds).

Step 2 In a large bowl, add the melted butter and toss in the almonds. Mix until well coated.

Step 3 Sprinkle powdered sugar evenly over the almonds and mix again.

Step 4 Add a pinch of salt for a touch of savory flavor.

Review:

  • The nutty flavor of the almonds combined with the sweetness of the sugar created a rich and satisfying taste. The butter added a subtle creaminess that made the whole experience feel indulgent.

When I first tried this recipe, I used too much butter and sugar, which ended up being a disaster! So, I recommend using just a small amount of butter. The more powdered sugar you add, the sweeter it gets, and thanks to the warmth of the butter, the powdered sugar melts slightly, creating a light coating on the almonds. This gives them a delightful crunch with every bite.

While it doesn't quite taste like the iconic honey butter almonds, this recipe is still a great way to elevate plain almonds. If you're looking for an easy snack with a mix of sweet and savory flavors, I highly recommend giving this a try!
